The IEND Model is a new clinical framework that sees the whole baby — not just the neck, not just sleep, not just the relationship. Movement, Regulation, and Relationship, as one integrated developing nervous system.
I am Panagiota — Penny — Anouar, MSc, BSc PT, a paediatric physiotherapist with over 20 years of clinical experience, and the founder of the IEND Model — Integrated Early NeuroDevelopment.
Two decades of treating babies with torticollis, plagiocephaly, hypotonia, developmental delay, prematurity, and sensory processing difficulties taught me the same lesson, over and over: every professional was assessing one piece of the same infant — the neck, the sleep, the relationship — and no one was assessing the whole. My Master's research into quality of life in children with cerebral palsy only sharpened that conviction: outcomes that matter to families rarely come from treating fragments.
The IEND Model is not a theory built from a desk. It is the framework I wished existed on my first day in a paediatric clinic — one that assesses and treats Movement, Regulation, and Relationship as a single interdependent system, because that is what I have seen, session after session, for twenty years. Today, clinicians train in the Model through the IEND Institute.
Every existing infant assessment tool — HINE, SINDA, Bayley, sensory processing measures — evaluates one domain in isolation. The IEND Model is the first framework designed to simultaneously assess and treat all three as an integrated triangle.
The organisation of the infant's body in space — postural tone, symmetry, variability, and the emergence of functional movement as expressions of the nervous system.
The infant's autonomic capacity to receive, organise, and respond to sensory and social input — state management, arousal modulation, and adaptive recovery from dysregulation.
The quality of caregiver attunement, co-regulation, and the environment as clinical variables — not background context, but active contributors to neurodevelopmental outcome.
"We do not treat muscles in isolation.
We support nervous systems in relationship."
Your baby cries constantly, won't settle, holds their head to one side, seems stiff or floppy. You've been to the doctor and left with more questions than answers. The IEND Model approach helps you understand what's really happening — and what to do about it.
You've been trained to assess motor function, sensory processing, and attachment — but in separate silos. The IEND Model Foundation Certification gives you a standardised, reproducible framework for integrating all three into one clinical sequence.
In the IEND Model, the caregiver's attunement and the environment are not just context — they are a clinical pillar. Practical guidance for grandparents, nursery staff, and anyone supporting a baby's development.
The IEND Model Foundation Certification is a structured professional training programme for physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and therapy assistants. It is the only pathway to becoming an accredited IEND Model practitioner.
Master the NeuroDevelopment Integration Triangle™ — the three pillars, how they interact, and the clinical reasoning sequence that drives every session.
Learn to use the standardised SAT-IEND™ tool and produce an IEND™ Foundation Score (IFS) across Movement, Regulation, and Relationship.
